Kathmandu, April 18:

The Supreme Court issued show cause notices to the Home Ministry, the Police Headquarters,

and Kathmandu District Police Office Hanumandhoka today, asking them to explain why they had kept student leaders Bishnu Hari Tripathi, Tej Bahadur Limbu, Risibi Thapa, Ram Prasad Ghimire and Manahari Ghimire under preventive detention. A bench of justice Bal Ram KC issued the notices following a hearing. The bench also issued a show cause notice to the Royal Commission for Corruption Control, asking it to explain the reasons for the detention of Ashok Jha.
