SC submits annual
Kathmandu, January 8:
The Supreme Court today submitted its 2007/08 report before President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
A team led by Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri met the President and briefed him on the present judicial status. Senior-most justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Justices Anup Raj Sharma, Ram Prasad Shrestha and Khil Raj Regmi were present on the occasion.
CJ Giri said that the judiciary was trying its best to serve the public, immediately and effectively, employing various strategic plans.
Giri also added that initiatives had been taken to amend criminal and civil procedural codes, evidenced by the formation of high-level committees for the purpose.
“The judiciary is committed to effect reforms,” he added.
The CJ also added that information technology applied in the judiciary was of high quality and had shown good impact.
The president also appreciated the initiatives taken by the judiciary in order to retain its independence, urging judges to deliver justice on time.
