KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 1

The Supreme Court is issuing a verdict on the government's decision to grant parole to Yograj Dhakal, also known as 'Regal.'

A division bench consisting of Justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Sapana Pradhan Malla, and Kumar Chudal is delivering a verdict on a writ petition filed against the government's decision to grant parole to Dhakal, who was convicted of murder.

On Constitution Day, the Cabinet recommended to the President the parole of Regal, who was serving a jail sentence for a murder case. Following the government's decision, he was released from prison.

Bharati Sherpa, the wife of Chetan Manandhar, had filed a writ petition challenging the government's decision to pardon Regal, who had been convicted of Manandhar's murder.

On October 5, a single bench, presided over by Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma, had ordered the government to provide all the original documents explaining the reasons for Regal's parole.
