Damauli, August 6

Following the eighth amendment to Education Act-2028, all community school management committees formed until a month ago have been dissolved in Tanahun.

Baburam Devkota, assistant district education officer at District Education Office, Tanahun said the management committees of 309 primary schools, 72 lower secondary schools, and 106 secondary schools have been dissolved. Devkota added that the decisions made by the old committees would also be scrapped.

District Education Officer Top Bahadur Shrestha said his office had directed the schools to form new committees and inform his office about any developments immediately. “The DEO has written to all community schools directing them to form new committees,” said Shrestha.

A source at the DEO said the payment for reconstruction of school buildings destroyed by the earthquakes last year, however, was not halted.

Damauli resource person Narayandutta Paudel asked the schools to form new committees as the decision made by the old committee would not be valid.

Only the new committees can take decisions on issues such as transfer and promotion of teachers, said Paudel.

Meanwhile, District Education Office Tanahun has sent the details of 814 vacant positions for teachers to the Department of Education.
