Schools using English for instruction

Dhankuta, April 29

Community schools in Dhankuta have pledged quality education through English medium from this academic session onwards.

The schools have started teaching-learning activities through the medium of English in rural areas after parents started to move to urban areas for better education of their kids.

The schools used English language as a medium of communication after the number of students started declining.

District Education Office, Dhankuta, said almost all the community schools in municipalities and rural municipalities have brought textbooks from Nursery to Grade III and started to teach children in English medium from this academic session.

A teacher at Margeshwori Primary School Tek Bahadur Khatri said students from private schools were also attracted to community schools as a result. They have initiate classes in Nursery, LKG and UKG in primary schools where Child Development Programme and Montessori classes were operated. Head teacher Ram Hari Subedi at Jwaladevi Primary School, Seule, said the number of children had increased in the schools recently after the schools started English language as medium of instruction.

Another head teacher Basudev Niroula at Shreeman Tanka Secondary School of Dhankuta Municipality said the guardians appear satisfied with community schools.

Ward Chairman Bikash Ghimire of Dhankuta Municipality said that two teachers had started teaching kids in the English medium in every community school. Guardians have also started to provide school uniforms and education materials to children up to grade III to improve their academic quality.
