Scribe, four others sent to jail

Dang, March 15:
District police office Dang has sent to jail five persons, including a local journalist Sharad Adhikari, who were arrested yesterday on charge of disobeying law and order. The five men were arrested from Damodar Chowk at the district headquarters at around 1:00 pm yesterday. They have been sent to jail for three months for violating law and order, police said. Those sent to jail, include the council member of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, central member of Press Chautari Nepal and correspondent of Channel Nepal, Sharad Adhikari, the CPN (UML) district committee Dang organisation’s department head, Shambhu Gautam, Nepal Students’ Union Dang district president, Nirmal Neupane, central member of the CPN (UML) affiliated to ANNFSU, Met Mani Chaudhary and Nepali Congress (Democratic) affiliated to Nepal Tarun Dal Dang member, Hemant KC. Meanwhile, various political parties and media organisations have demanded the release of journalist Adhikari and other activists.
