Scribes’ stir to go on

Kathmandu, October 3:

President of the Kathmandu District Committee of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) Yuba Raj Bidrohi today said their protest against classification of newspapers by the Press Council Nepal would continue despite call for talks.

“We consider the chairman of the PCN to be a ‘convict’ and we are not going to talk with him,” Bidrohi said at an interaction on “Challenges of Media and our Role” organised by Media Group Nepal here today. Bidrohi said the agitating journalists have decided to sit for talks only with the full body of the PCN. He also said they would continue their movement that includes a sit-in and lockout programme at the PCN office on Wednesday.

All three FNJ district chapters in the valley are agitating against the ‘biased’ categorisation of newspapers by the PCN.
