Seasonal maladies up in Lamjung

As the weather changes, the number of seasoal patients has increased in Lamjung District Community Hospital.

Hospital Chief Dr Hemanta Shrestha said around 400 seasonal patients reach the hospital for treatment on a daily basis. Earlier, on an average, around 200 patients used to visit the hospital, according to Dr Shrestha. He added patients suffering from viral fever, typhoid and diarrhoea, among other diseases, were reaching the hospital.

Medical Officer at the hospital Dr Sulochan Panta said they were compelled to treat patients on the floor due to lack of beds after the number of patients suddenly increased. The hospital has 60 beds. “Patients are facing hard time due to shortage of beds,” he added. He also said only serious patients had been admitted, while other patients were sent back home with medicines.

Seasonal patients have not only thronged the community hospital, but also Lamjung Model Hospital in Besisahar, Besisahar Hospital and other health facilities. The number of seasonal patients has increased in the health facilities of Sundarbazaar, Bhorletar, Duepiple, Dhamilikuwa, Gainda Primary Health Centre, and Duradanda Primary Health Centre.
