Second COVID-19 fatality in Nepali Army

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 26

Country has witnessed the second death due to the COV- ID-19 in the security force. The deceased is a 20 years male soldier in Nepali Army from Bajhang District in Nepal. He was posted in Kathmandu valley.

The deceased had also been suffering from epilepsy, according to NA. NA Spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel said the soldier was admitted to the Chauni based Birendra Hospital on September 22 after suffering from seizure attack.

Two days later, he tested positive for the coronavirus, on September 24. “Doctors had then transferred him to COV- ID-19 section for treatment, but he succumbed to the virus yesterday late evening,” Poudel said.

Paudel claimed that although they didn’t know the deceased was carrying the coronavirus they had taken all kinds of precautionary measures against the virus. He also said they were working on contact tracing. As many as 2,197 NA personnel have been infected with the coronavirus so far. Of them, 1,656 have been undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
