Security beefed up

With the date of the third round of local level elections in Province 2 approaching, security has been beefed up beginning today in Saptari.
There are a total of 295 polling stations in the district. Of them, as many as 207 stations have been categorised as highly sensitive and the remaining 88 as sensitive.
“Security has been arranged accordingly,” said District Police Office Saptari Chief SP Mukesh Kumar Singh. Squads of trained dogs have also been used along the roads to check any smuggling of explosives from India and avoid any untoward incident from today itself,” clarified SP Singh.
“A team of nine to 11 armed security personnel will be mobilised in each polling station. At least 4,000 Nepal Police personnel, 2,000 Armed Police Force personnel and 1,000 Nepali Army men will be mobilised in all polling stations across the district. If needed, additional security force will be called in from adjoining districts,” said the District Security Committee.
