Security beefed up in Mahottari

Mahottari, February 7:

Augmented security management has been kept in place in certain parts of Mahottari district for the purpose of conducting local elections in Jaleshwor Municipality in a fair and peaceful environment.

Regular access of security personnel to every parts of all the 13 wards of the municipality has helped encourage the locals to participate in the municipal elections, according to DSP Ramesh Prasad Phuyal of the District Police Office.

Joint Security teams comprising personnel of the Royal Nepalese Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force have been deployed extensively at all the wards and polling stations of the municipality, besides the ample mobilisation of regular patrolling teams, he said.

CDO and District Election Officer Jaya Mukunda Khanal called on all the residents of the municipality to go to the polling stations and cast their votes.

Meanwhile, the local administration held two persons taken to sabotaging the municipal elections in custody yesterday.

“Ganesh Nepali of Parsapataili VDC and Mahendra Kuamr Mishra of Loharpatti VDC have been detained because they were found involved in anti-election activities in Jaleshwor municipality,’’ said the CDO.
