Pokhara, June 11

A vehicle used by Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transportation Raghubir Mahaseth, who had gone to lay the foundation stone of a bridge over the Khahare Khola in Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality, Syangja, met with an accident yesterday.

The minister’s vehicle was stuck in Darau Khola at Ghatte in the same municipality while the minister was returning after attending the ground-breaking ceremony of the bridge.

According to Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality Chairperson Dirgha Narayan Aryal, the accident occurred after the driver missed the usual route for crossing the river.

“Upon learning about the minister’s programme, we had made a makeshift route in the river by employing an excavator and spending around 60,000 rupees, but as the driver went out of track, the vehicle got stuck in the river,” said Aryal.

After the vehicle was partially submerged in the river, the minister was rescued with the help of security personnel. While the minister is safe, the vehicle has been slightly damaged.
