MAHOTTARI: An elderly woman drowned in a pond at Dhirapur VDC of the district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Pyari Devi Thakur (70), a local resident, informed the Mahottari District Police Office.

She had gone for a walk near the pond; but fell into the water and died, said SP Janak Bhattarai of the DPO.

Thakur’s body has been sent to the District Hospital in Jaleshor for autopsy yesterday itself, police added.
