Sergeant in Army custody

Kathmandu, October 26:

The Nepali Army has taken Sergeant Ram Bahadur BK of the Buddha Bhairav Battalion into custody and started an investigation into his alleged role in beating up a civilian at Basundhara in Kathmandu on October 24.

A statement issued by the army’s Public Relations Directorate here today, BK is in custody while his accomplice Navaraj Devkota, a civilian, was released on the condition that he foot the medical bills of the victim Buddha Bahadur Pyakurel.

Pyakurel has been admitted in the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, after he was allegedly beaten up by BK and his friend. Devkota, who was also injured in the incident, was discharged from a hospital on Wednesday morning, the directorate added.
