Kathmandu, July 6

The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police today arrested an alleged serial killer for his involvement in at least seven murder cases and a larceny.

Superintendent of Police Dipak Regmi, CIB spokesperson, told THT that Naseem Ahamed Musalman, aka Badshah, 44, of Kapilvastu district, was taken into custody from a house in Sinamangal, Kathmandu, at around 9:00am. Musalman is also known as Naseem Khan.

The notorious criminal was on a police search list following an FIR lodged against him for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a four-year-old boy Mohammad Aheman of Kapilvastu on 15 February 2018.

“We were after the prime suspect behind kidnapping and murder of the child for the past one year. He had fled the country to escape arrest.

Acting on a tip-off that Musalman had returned to Nepal, we stepped up the manhunt leading to his arrest from Kathmandu,” said SP Regmi.

Musalman was recently spotted along with Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakrapani Khanal and other government officials at a public event organised in Mayadevi Municipality of Kapilvastu district.

Musalman had received membership of former Communist Party Nepal (United Marxist Leninist) on 25 November 2012. Lately, he was a central member of Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha. He is the husband of Province 5 lawmaker Faujiya Naseem.

Musalman was sent to Kapilvastu today, as he had committed all the crimes in the district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Devendra Pandey, also a spokesperson of District Police Office, Kapilvastu, said, “Altogether, eight FIRs had been filed against Musalman for his alleged involvement in seven murder cases and one larceny case in the district.”

Chief of District Police Deep Sumsher JBR said they had information that Musalman had been spotted along the Nepal-India border, about a month ago. “We had since then started keeping track of him, working closely with the CIB.”

According to the police officer, Musalman was charged with homicide for the first time on 25 May 2006 for killing the son of Dharmaraj Baraili of Kapilvastu. Musalman is also charged with killing Prem Pariyar on 8 February 2008, Shiva Pujan Kurmi on 22 March 2008, Akala Kohara on 5 September 2008, Rammilan Prasad Gupta, the then Pipara Village Development Committee’s Secretary on 25 October 2008 and Rajendra Prasad Tiwari on 16 April 2010.
