Sindhulimadhi, March 24
Services being delivered by Sindhuli District Hospital has improved of late.
Locals of Sindhuli used to visit Kathmandu or neighbouring districts such as Kavre and Dhanusha even for the treatment of minor diseases. However, with the hospital now providing quality service, locals have been relieved of the trouble of having to travel to other places for treatment.
These days, the health facility is witnessing an increased flow of patients. Medical Superintendent Dr Sumitra Gautam at the hospital said when she came to the hospital two years ago the hospital used to have 20 to 25 patients on a daily basis, but the number had gone up to more than 150 per day now. She said the hospital had won trust of public by improving health care services. According to her, specialist doctors are providing services at the hospital.
The hospital has dentists, physicians, and gynecologists, among others. Dr Gautam, who is a gynecologist, said the hospital was providing all services, including surgeries.
According to her, up to four surgeries are performed on a daily basis at the hospital.
With the hospital also providing surgery services, Nepal Red Cross Society Sindhuli has resumed operation of its blood bank. NRCS district president Ashok Shrestha said they had closed the blood bank as not even the single pint of the blood was used by the hospital earlier.
Social worker Ganga Dahal said health care services had improved after Dr Sumitra Gautam was posted at the hospital. The government has already decided to upgrade the 15-bed hospital into 150-bed health facility.
