CHITWAN: A seven-month-old baby was found dead in a well at Kumroj of Khairahani Municipality in Chitwan district on Sunday.

According to locals, Parbati Neupane (36), the mother of the infant girl Prajina, is suspected of deserting the baby into the water. She is missing since the incident, the Chitwan District Police said.

Parbati's husband Ram Sharan had lodged a request with police for the search of the mother-daughter duo after they did not return.

It has been learned that Parbati was suffering from mental imbalance, police added.

Police are searching for the mother on the run.
