Seven-party alliance announces fresh protest plans
Kathmandu, January 27:
As part of their campaign to “actively boycott” the civic polls and to make the polls a “total failure”, the seven-party alliance today announced a series of protest programmes.
A meeting of the joint mass movement coordination committee today decided to burn effigies of autocracy and organise meets in every ward of all the municipalities tomorrow. The alliance will stage torch rallies in the Valley tomorrow.
The alliance has called a village-to-city walk drive on Sunday, and protests on Monday against the polls.
The alliance will hold women’s’ rallies across the nation on Tuesday. Kathmandu will see a protest rally from Gaushala at 1 pm on the same day. The scheduled rally will converge into a mass protest meeting at New Baneshwor.
The alliance has decided to mark February 1 as the “Black Day”. On the same day, the alliance will stage rallies in the Valley. It called on all district movement coordination committees to ban the entry of ministers in the districts.The alliance has also flayed the “indiscriminate use of forces” in peaceful protests.
