KATHMANDU, JUNE 15

The governments of all seven provinces, as per the provision to present budget by mid-June, are set to unveil provincial budget for the fiscal year 2021/22, today.

In preparation for the same, the provincial heads have already announced the policies and programs, mostly focusing on Covid-19 crisis management, for this fiscal. Likewise, keeping in mind the effect of pandemic lockdown in various parts of the country, the policies and programmes have also introduced plans to address the grim economic situation across various sectors.

The federal budget announced by the government on May 28 for fiscal 2021/22 had allocated Rs. 57.9 billion to the provinces, while the total budget of the seven provinces amounts to Rs. 264.20 billion.

The provincial budget would be largely drawn from the grants of the central government and a small make-up of the source would include revenues generated by local levels.
