Seven teens sent to juvenile detention in connection to Tanahun murder

TANAHUN: The Tanahun District Court on Friday sent seven teenagers, accused of a murder, to juvenile detention in Sarankot of Kaski district while handed over two children to their parents.

The teens are accused of murdering Akash Thapa (18) of Deurali Nagar, Byas Municipality in the district.

It was reported that Thapa died in a khukuri attack committed by the suspects in Damauli while returning home on July 29.

The children, who are above 14 years and below 16, were sent to the detention by a single bench of district judge Krishna Prasad Sitaula today.

They are Suresh Thapa, Shree Bilas Chand, Dil Kumar Shrestha, Manish Chand, Padam Chand, Baburam Thakuri and Prithvi Banshi Thakuri, said Sub-Inspector Manoj Pandey of the District Police Office.

Meanwhile, Rishi Thapa of Byas and Johnson Thapa of High School Tar in Tanahun district, who were below 14 years, were handed over to their parents, he added.

After Thapa's death, police had instantly arrested them and begun investigation after filing a murder case.

As per the Children's Act, 1992, children below 14 years involved in any crime could be punished with maximum custody of six month and children above 14 and below 16 years would get half the punishment the adults would get for the same.
