KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 6
Seven vehicles were involved in a pile-up at Chalise in Dhunibeshi-6 along the Prithvi Highway on Saturday.
According to DSP Prakash Dahal of the District Police Office, Dhading, the accident occurred after the brakes failed on an Indian-number–plated truck, which then rammed into other vehicles. The collision involved four buses, including a school bus, two trucks and a motorcycle.
Police and local residents are currently carrying out rescue operations. Traffic along the highway has come to a complete halt following the crash.
According to the locals, most passengers in two of the buses were injured. The injured have been taken to nearby health facilities and some referred to Kathmandu. Police are working to remove the damaged vehicles and reopen the road.
