Janakpurdham, February 21:
The Home Minister Dan bahadur Shahi, today praised the security forces of Mahendranagar area police office, Dhanusha, for foiling the Maoists’ attack bid.
Dozens of Maoists were killed in security operations after they attacked Armed Police Office, 18 kilometres north of Janakpur day before yesterday. A police head constable, Pramod Raut, was killed in the attack.
Speaking at the unified security camp established today, Shahi said terrorists have no caste, religion, morality or political ideology.
“The Maoists have to come to the mainstream after laying down arms,” Shahi said, adding that the door for Maoists was open if they were ready to shun violence.
Minister for Education and Sports Radha Krishna Mainali, speaking on the same occasion, said the government had prioritised moves to reward deserving security men and to listen to the public voice.
Mainali said the Maoist actions were a result of psychological defeatism.
Minister for Labour and Transportation Ram Narayan Singh blamed former MPs and governments for failing to safeguard the constitution.
