DHANGADI: Nirmala’s father Yagyaraj Panta has alleged that the government and the families of the police officers charged in the case have coerced his wife Durga Devi into making inconsistent remarks.

“It’s apparent that she was coerced to withdraw the case, while I was in Kathmandu for a few days,” said Yagyaraj. “It’s pointless to not trust the report given by the lab. The government, instead of finding the culprit, has taken to issuing threats to save the guilty,” he said.

Human rights activist Sarada Chand described Durga Devi’s U-turn as a design of the government to save the guilty. “Whatever Durga Devi is saying is under pressure from the government,” she said.
