Ward office torched

DHANGADI: An unidentified group torched the ward office of Shikhar Municipality, in Doti, on Saturday night. According to Dipayal Area Police Office, the group set fire to the office early in the morning.

Furniture and documents, among other materials, turned into ashes in the incident. Police said further investigation into the incident was under way. Ward Chairperson Nar Bahadur Balayar said the group led by a local Dirgha Kunwar of the Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal might have set fire to the office.

He added that a group of four to five persons had reached the ward office and threatened to set fire to the office two months ago. He informed that the ward office was completely damaged in the blaze. Earlier, the unidentified group had also set fire to the offices of Badikedar Rural Municipality and Jorayal Rural Municipality in the district.
