KATHMANDU, MAY 13
The Election Commission has issued a show cause notice to former prime minister and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal leader Baburam Bhattarai for displaying the ballot paper that he had marked for voting.
Bhattarai allegedly took picture of himself while voting and displayed the ballot paper.
The poll panel has asked Bhattarai why he violated Section 9 (2) of Election (Offence and Punishment) Act.
Under this provision a violator faces fine not exceeding Rs 15,000. He said parties blow minor differences out of proportion causing security problems in some polling centres.
