Siddhartha Thapa manhandled

Dhankuta, December 6

A group of CPN-UML cadres manhandled youth leader of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic Siddhartha Thapa at Pakhribas Municipality in Dhankuta district this evening.

District Police Office said the incident occurred when Thapa was on his way to Muga of Dhankuta from where his father Sunil Bahadur Thapa was contesting parliamentary polls representing the democratic alliance.

According to Madan Ghimire, a close aide to Minister Sunil Bahadur Thapa, a mob led by Municipality Mayor Birkha Rai manhandled Thapa, threatening his life at Jaldevi area while he was on his way to Muga to cast his vote in tomorrow’s parliamentary and provincial polls.

“Around 100 UML supporters led by Rai stopped him from proceeding to Muga and even issued him a death threat,” alleged Ghimire. Police said they, however, rescued Thapa from the mob.

Thapa is a grandson of former prime minister late Surya Bahadur Thapa and the only son of Sunil Bahadur Thapa.
