Sindhuli Hospital without doctors

Sindhulimadi, August 19

Health services have been adversely affected at Sindhuli Hospital after doctors working at the hospital were transferred to other health facilities in line with the Employee Adjustment Act.

The hospital has quota for nine doctors, but currently only one doctor is working here.

Patients have been hit hard following the transfer of eight doctors from the health facility under the staff adjustment process.

According to the hospital, as many as 300 patients report to the hospital on a daily basis, but they are compelled to return without examination.

Hospital Management Committee Chair Prahlad Pokhrel said that the provincial and central governments did not heed their problems even after frequent reminders. He said that the number of patients reporting to the hospital seeking medical treatment had increased of late. “It has become very difficult to operate the hospital due to lack of doctors,” he added. Pokhrel said that 57 other health workers were also transferred from the hospital.

The hospital administration said that doctors transferred from the hospital had already left for their new work places, but the doctors transferred to the hospital were yet to report to work.

“The problem occurred after doctors and other health workers were transferred altogether simultaneously,” Pokhrel added.
