Singati Bazaar shut down today

Dolakha, August 25

Singati Bazaar remained closed today after locals of Kalinchowk Rural Municipality, Dolakha, called for a shutdown to protest irregular power supply in the district for long.

“It’s been one-and-half months we have been facing sporadic power cuts and frequent calls to the NEA has fallen on deaf ears,” said an agitator, describing the shutdown as means to pressure the authorities concerned.

Locals also submitted a memorandum to the NEA district branch and District Administration Office today.

NEA Dolakha Engineer Umesh Shrestha said attempts were going on to resolve the problem. “We’ve tried our best to find the cause of the problem but to no avail,” he said, claiming that the problem would be resolved soon.

Earlier, dozens of organisations including Dolakha Chamber of Commerce and Industry had submitted similar memorandums to authorities calling for an end to the power supply problem in the district.
