SIRAHA: A 17-year-old youth who was reported missing for a day was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Dohatiya in Golbazaar Municipality of Siraha district on Wednesday.

The victim, a 10th grader at a local boarding school, had gone to drop off his friend to his house after finishing school exams. However, he didn't show up at his rented room until late on Tuesday night.

After failing to trace him, the victim's relatives eventually informed the police about his missing status.

Police said they have recovered the body of a youth in school dress along with blade and poisonous fertiliser from the scene."The incident looks very suspicious. We cannot say anything at this point of time."

Police had to use force to send the body for autopsy at Lahan-based hospital in the district after locals did not allow them to lift the corpse.

Meanwhile, the victim's relatives have filed an FIR (First Information Report) against a suspect and investigation is underway, informed DPO Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Salikram Sharma.

It has been learnt that the youth had managed to escape from the clutches of abductors in India two years ago.
