Nepali Congress Siraha has conducted its 14th District Conference in a school shutting down its classes.

NC Siraha held its district conference on the premises of Janata Secondary School at Golbazaar Municipality. The party's district conference has affected classes of around 2,000 students. Locals said the school was closed to mourn the death of a schoolgirl a week ago, but the school premises were given to the NC for hold its district conference.

Use of school premises for holding a party's conference is unfortunate. They fear that such incidents would politicise the school and spoil the academic atmosphere.

School head teacher Bharat Prasad Sah said the school premises was given for the party's function as classes were closed.

Voting to elect the NC's district committee, including its president, is still under way.

The voting scheduled to begin from 8:00am had started two hours later. There are 2,650 voters casting ballots.
