Siraha polyclinics monitored

Siraha, August 12

Siraha District Health Office today carried out surprise monitoring of private health facilities run by flouting the standard procedures.

A monitoring team from the office monitored Lilamadan Polyclinic, Seraj Polyclinic, Himal Dental Clinic, Trishakti Health Care and Shibodev Child Health Care in Lahan. According to DHO administration Chief Umesh Lal Karna, while some of the clinics were operating without mandatory licence others were found to be running unauthorised services.

“The two clinics found running more services than authorised have been told to be present at the DHO within seven days with necessary documents,” said Karna, adding that Lilamandan Polyclinic of Lahan-1, Himalayan Dental Clinic and Shibodev Health Care of Lahan-3 were told to close down for good for running without licence.

Around two months ago, the DHO here had monitored eight hospitals and six polyclinics running illegally in Siraha itself and instructed them to close their businesses. The five polyclinics monitored today were among those monitored two months ago and told to close down.

The monitoring team chief DHO Chief Dr Nagendra Prasad Yadav said they had to monitor the clinics as most of them were operating without licence or renewing their licence.

Meanwhile, today itself a woman who was helped in her childbearing by a polyclinic operator bore a stillborn child.

Suffering from labour pain, Shobhadevi Chaudhary of Mirchaiya Municipality 3 had reached out to Marigold Polyclinic to bear her baby. But, in the absence of a doctor, the polyclinic operator Chandan Sah, a CMA, had tried to take over the job, the baby had died. As the mother suffered from profuse bleeding, she was taken to Biratnagar for treatment.
