Sitaula visits landslip-hit areas

Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula today inspected the landslide-hit Gwalichaur and Jaljala areas of Baglung district. The local administration and police officials briefed him on the extent of damage.
After meeting landslide-affected families, Sitaula expressed his sympathy to those bereaved and assured them of prompt relief and rehabilitation. He also distributed Rs 15,000 to each bereaved family and food grains and clothes to the displaced.Speaking at a programme organised in the district headquarters, Sitaula said the government was giving top priority to the landslide victims.
It is framing the relief measures in accordance with the suggestions of the technical team, he added.
He also gave a check for Rs 7 lakh to the NDRC. The victims submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister demanding reconstruction of infrastructure.
They urged the minister to declare the region a landslide-hit zone.
Members of the parliament Arjun Joshi, Tanka Prasad Kandel, Dinanath Sharma, Chitra Bahadur KC, Pari Thapa and Balawati Sharma also inspected the affected sites. Ten Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) members of the parliament also gave Rs 1 lakh as assistance to the landslide-affected families.
