PATHALAIYA: In a major clampdown on fake currency racketeer outside the capital, a patrol of Area Police Office, Nijgarh, detained six persons for their alleged involvement in the illegal activity yesterday.

The detained have been identified as Laxman Shah, 51, of Amritgunj, Bara, Hajam Miya and Bachiya Khatun of Simroungarh, Chandan Shah, 15, and Kamala Biswokarma of Birgunj-18 and Ramchandra Shah, 51, of Birgunj-3. The police had seized fake Nepali notes of Rs 500 denomination amounting to Rs 67,000 from them.

Assistant sub-inspector, Pradip Gautam said that police had arrested them from a house in Jamunapaini area. The six already admitted their involvement, he said.
