Six killed, 23 injured in separate road accidents

At least six persons were killed and 23 others injured in separate road accidents in Nawalpur in the past 24 hours.

Police said that five persons died after a truck and a car collided with each other in a jungle area along East-West Highway at Kawasoti Municipality-8 in Nawalpur last night. The deceased have been identified as Purna Bahadur Bishowkarma, Dil Bahadur Dhega Magar, Dipesh Rana, Hira Rana of Devchuli Municipality and Suraj Ranamagar of Kailali. They were traveling in the car.

According to Nawalpur District Police Office, the accident occurred when the car heading towards Kawasoti from Pragatinagar collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction. Police said the truck driver was arrested and further investigation into the accident was under way.

Similarly, one person died and 16 others were injured after a bus heading towards Kathmandu from Dang turned turtle at Madhyabindu Municipality-10 last night. The deceased has been identified as Laxman Timalsina, 35, of Makawanpur.

Police said a critically injured Timalsina died in the course of treatment in Purano Medical College, Chitwan. The injured are receiving treatment in different health facilities, said police.

Likewise, seven persons were injured after a bus heading towards Birgunj from Surkhet turned turtle at Chormara of Madhyabindu Municipality-7 in Nawalpur today morning. The injured are receiving treatment in Bharatpur-based Purano Medical College, said police. Police said that further investigation into the accident was under way.
