Six killed, 38 hurt in separate mishaps
Baglung, February 17:
Five persons were killed and 11 others were hurt when a jeep that was heading to Baglung bazaar from Resh skidded off a road at Dobilla in Bihu VDC this morning.
Four passengers were killed instantly, while another one who was critically injured died while undergoing treatment in Baglung hospital, the Baglung Police Office said.
The dead have been identified as Chandra Bahadur Thapa (driver), Sammar Karki, Bhim Singh Kandel, Bal Bahadur Thapa and Bhagirathi Karki, police said. Of the injured, three have been undergoing treatment in Baglung hospital and the remaining eight whose condition is reported to be critical have been sent to Gandaki hospital, police said.
A report from Syangja said one tractor driver Prakash Pangeni, 19, of Naya Belhani-9 of Nawalparasi was killed when the tractor heading to Tulsi Bhanjyang from Galyang met with an accident at Chaukitole today.
A report from Pokhara said two youths were injured when a motorbike they were traveling on was hit by a passenger bus at Zero Kilometer in Pokhara-5 today. The injured persons were Kiran GC, 23, and Devendra Baniya, 25, of Myagdi’s Beni. RSS reports: Over 25 people of a marriage procession were injured in a truck accident in the Duhabi-Sonapur road section of Sunsari district last night. The truck coming towards Duhabi from Katahari of Morang in a marriage procession overturned near the Mahalaxmi Flour Mill. A report from Itahari said at least 10 persons were injured today in a brawl between locals and alleged smugglers while the villagers were cutting thatch in Koshi Tappu Wildlife area.
