Six killed, 50 injured in Nawalparasi bus accident

NAWALPARASI: At least six persons lost their lives and 50 others were injured after a bus fell into Arunkhola in Madhya-Bindu Municipality of Eastern Nawalparasi on Sunday.

The bus (Lu 1 Kha 8454) en route to Bhairahawa from Itahari in Province 1 lost control and fell down the road killing five persons on the spot at 5:00 am, informed police. It has been learnt that the vehicle lost balance because of over-speeding.

Meanwhile, a seriously injured passenger breathed his last while ongoing treatment at Bharatpur Medical College, according to District Police Office, Nawalpur.

The deceased have been identified as Suhan Karki (11) of  Sundar Haraicha, Morang, Ramjit Rai (27) of Hatuwagadi Bhojpur, Abdul Ansari (32) of Sunsari, Bidhanand Yadav of Bihar, India and Tilak Bista of Hastachaur in Gulmi. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of one of the deceased.

According to police, 36 of the injured underwent treatment at Bharatpur while six were treated for minor injuries at a local medical facility.
