Six persons injured in clashes amid road construction row
RAUTAHAT: Six persons including two women have been injured while 13 motorbikes were vandalised in a clash that erupted between parties carrying out discussions on constructing a roadway in Brindaban Municipality in Rautahat, on Thursday.
A clash erupted in a meeting called by Ward Chair Shyam Nandan Raya Yadav to settle the issue of road construction through private property.
Following the incident, Area Police Office, Garuda arrested local Nagendra Yadav, Lal Babu Yadav and Dharmendra Raya Yadav on charges of physical assault and vandalism. They were released later after the parties involved in the clash forged an agreement.
The accused had severely beaten local Son Lal Sah as he did not allow a road to be constructed through his private property. Likewise, Birendra Raya Yadav, Suresh Prasad Yadav, Subita Devi, Ram Narayan Yadav and Ful Wati Devi were also thrashed by the accused.
According to police, the injured are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the region.
The locals have accused ward chair Yadav and his aides of thrashing the victims mercilessly after calling them to sit for discussions.
