DAMAULI:  District Livestock Service Office, Tanahun, has started monitoring  slaughter houses and meat shops in Byas Municipality, Tanahun district.

The monitoring campaign will last till April 1 with the aim of ensuring  consumers fresh and healthy meat. Dr Bal Kumar Shrestha of district  Livestock Office said they monitored slaughter houses and meat shops on  Monday.

He said the way the meat was sold was not satisfactory. All  types of meat were kept in a single refrigerator. The team also said  there was no uniformity of price in the shops.

Chief of District Livestock Office Man  Bahadur Pun said the monitoring team warned butchers that they should  sell fresh and healthy meat.

Representatives of district administration  office, district police and consumers’ forum, among others, comprised the team.
