SLR cadres stone minister’s vehicle
Ilam, February 5:
Cadres of the Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajyaparisad (SLR) pelted stones at the vehicle of Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nembang here today.
However, the vandalism caused no major damage to the vehicle, the police said. SLR cadres pelted stones at the vehicle when Nembang was on his way to Jhapa during the SLR-called
strike after inaugurating the fifth district conference of Panchthar chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) at Pasangtar of Chaita VDC.
Meanwhile, vehicles stayed off the road due to the traffic strike called by SLR in Jhapa today.
The SLR had called the bandh demanding unconditional release of its cadres. Due to the bandh, educational institutions and markets remained close.
Though an all-party meeting yesterday decided to ply vehicles from today, the decision was not implemented.
Many passengers heading to Ilam and Panchthar have been stranded due to the strike. The bandh also crippled life in Sunsari, Taplejung, Panchthar and Dhankuta districts.
Also today, the SPA held a meeting under chairmanship of MP Dharmasila Chapagain today and urged the government to hold talks with the SLR.
