Smart class launched in Rupandehi

A community school located in Mayadevi Rural Municipality, Rupandehi district, has started a smart class to educate students effectively.

Sundi Secondary School is one of the privileged schools in the district with a smart class and a boundary wall.

With financial support of Rs 1.6 million from Korea Environment Corporation, the school has established a computer room with 21 new computers.

Well-known Korean mountaineer Captain Um Hong Gil, Executive Director of K-ECO’s Chungcheong Region Kim Jong Youb, school inspector Laxman Gyawali, vice-chairperson of Mayadevi Rural Municipality Tara Devi Yadav, chairman of Sundi Secondary School Management Committee Arun Kumar Tiwari, head teacher Satish Chandra Mani Tripathi, among others, inaugurated the smart class and the boundary wall at a ceremony held today.  K-ECO has also provided 21 sets of furniture for the computer room.Around 700 students from various underprivileged communities, including Musahar, Lodh, Harijan and Dhawal are studying in the school.

Korean monk Dong Gok provided the latest smart board with educational software approved by the Curriculum Development Centre of Nepal. The school also has a two-storey earthquake-resistant building with 11 child-friendly rooms, separate toilets for boys and girls and other educational facilities.

Two years back, Um Hong Gil Human Foundation, a Korean INGO, had funded to build the sophisticated school infrastructure.

K-ECO, an institution run by the government of the Republic of Korea (RoK), has been working actively in the field of environment conservation such as air, soil, water ecological restoration and environmental health.

At the programme, legendary mountaineer Um asked students to work hard to become competent citizens. K-ECO Executive Director Kim hoped that students would benefit from the smart class. “We are very delighted to help the people living in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha,” he said.

Head teacher Tiwari said the smart class would be of great help for the school to impart quality education.
