Snake rampage scares locals in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: The rampage of venomous snakes has scared the locals of Beldandi Rural Municipality in the southern belt of Kanchanpur district recently.

Local residents are fearful after the snakes are commonly seen in and around human settlements, said Sub Engineer Tej Bahadur Sunar at the Rural Municipality. He shared that Sharada Thapa (25) of Gauritole in Beldandi Rural Municipality-2 died from snakebite on the day of Lakshmi Puja.

Likewise, Setu Budha (23), of the same locality has also been admitted to a hospital after snakebite. He is undergoing treatment at a medical institution in Khatima of India.

The entire villagers have been horrified due to increasing rampage of snakes. The venomous snakes are found everywhere during the day time in the area.

According to locals, snakebite victims are losing their life for the want of timely treatment. They elaborated that the lack of anti snake venom in the local health facility in Beldandi compels the victims to go to Mahendranagar, the district headquarters or Dhangadhi for the treatment causing many to lose life on the way.

Locals have demanded immediate availability of anti snake venom at the local health facility to further prevent untimely demise due to snakebite.
