A minor died after a poisonous snake bit him in Pathara Budharam VDC, Rautahat, today morning.

Kanta Muni Sah, 12, of the VDC died in the course of treatment in District Hospital, Rautahat. The snake bit Sah while he was sleeping in his room at around 11:00pm yesterday.

It is said the family members called the local shaman instead of taking him to the hospital for treatment.

Relativestook him to the district hospital at 2:00am the same night after his condition worsened.

Assistant Health Worker Rajesh Kumar Singh at the hospital’s emergency ward pronounced the minor’s death. He said the hospital could not save the minor’s life as it was too late.
