Snakes taking toll

SARLAHI: Along with the rise in temperature in the Tarai districts lately, incidents of snake bite have also gone up drastically. Altogether six persons have been admitted to District Hospital here for treatment after they were bitten by poisonous snakes.

Among them, Ramchandra Shah, of Laxmipur Sukhachaina VDC-4, today was administered 54 anti-venom vaccines. According to hospital, it was the first such incident of administering such a large amount of anti-venom.

According to his neighbour, a poisonous snake had bitten him on his leg while he was sleeping in his front porch this morning. He was rushed to Sarlahi Hospital immediately after the incident.The other undergoing treatment are Babita Pasawan (19) of Bela VDC-8, Sajan Chaudhari (28) of Jabdi VDC-1 and Rajesh Yadav (20) of Salempur VDC-1.
