The Chitwan District Court has, in a recent verdict, confirmed Poorna Kumar Shrestha as the father of a 21-year-old boy, who was born from a Dalit woman. Shrestha had refused to own Mangal Bahadur as his son. Mangal Bahadur, a resident of Jagatpur village development committee ward number three, had moved the court seeking certification of relationship.

A single bench of justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued the verdict which said Mangal Bahadur was born on Asadh 19, 2040 BS out of an illicit relationship between Shrestha and Sukmaya Nepali. Earlier, Mangal Bahadur had requested Shrestha for a recommendation as his father. Mangal had filed the case after Poorna Kumar refused to certify their relationship.
