Son held for killing mother in Saptari

Saptari District Police Office today made public Jung Bahadur Pulami, 33, of Surunga Municipality who was arrested on the charge of stabbing his mother to death.
Pulami, who came home under the influence of alcohol, had attacked his mother indiscriminately when she tried to remind him of his duties, said DSP Bhabesh Rimal.
Pulami had attacked his mother Dhana Maya in her head, neck and face with a knife and brutally murdered her, yesterday evening. He was nabbed form his home. Police seized two blood-stained knives from the incident site.
Pulami had drunk excessively on the day when the incident occurred. He had asked his mother to slaughter one of the two hens and cook it for meal yesterday morning itself. At the request of her son, Dhana Maya had slaughtered the hen and cooked it. According to police, Pulami went out to drink alcohol after having meal. When he returned intoxicated, she tried to remind him of his responsibilities and to quit drinking. Enraged, he attacked the mother with the knife and killed her, said police.
The deceased Dhana Maya’s husband Lok Bahadur, who had left home to buy recharge card at the time of the incident, was terrified when he saw his wife lying in the pool of blood and son holding knife with blood-stained hands. He had fled the scene to save his life. Police personnel had encircled the home and taken Pulami under control.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted at Lahan-based Ram Kumar Sharada Uma Prasad Murarak Hospital.
Pulami has been remanded to the custody today and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
