KATHMANDU: High-level officials and icefall doctors of the Sagarmatha pollution Control Committee, who are currently in South Korea for an official visit, have taken part in different activities there.
According to Lama Kazi Sherpa, Chairman at SPCC, the team had met with Nepal's Ambassador to South Korea Shivmaya Tumbahamfe and officials at the Black Yak company.
During a meeting with the Nepal's envoy at the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul, the team discussed different issues relating to Nepal's adventure tourism and sought support of the embassy in bringing more Korean tourists to the country, Lama Kazi said.

According to Tshering Sherpa, Chief Executive Officer at SPCC, the team also held intensive talks with Korea's reputed outdoor company 'Black Yak'. Black Yak Company Ltd has supported Icefall doctors who are instrumental in fixing routes on Mt Everest.
A memorandum of understanding had already been signed to this effect in the presence of Black Yak representatives, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee executives and officials from the Nepal Mountaineering Association. As per the MoU, Black Yak has offered necessary equipment and fixing ropes to Icefall doctors for the next five years.
"We are now in South Korea at the invitation of Black Yak Company," Tshering said. During the meeting Kang Tae Sun, Chairman of BYN Black Yak, said that his company would continue its support to SPCC as the organization played an important role for the smooth conducting of Everest expedition in Nepal.

The delegation includes SPCC chair Lama Kazi, CEO Tshering, base camp manager Tshering Tenzing, Icefall doctors – Ang Sarki Sherpa, Dawa Jangbu Sherpa and Dawa Chhiri Sherpa.
SPCC team also attended the Seoul Mountaineering Event and shared its experiences on mountain environment, garbage management as well as role of icefall doctors in Everest climbing, said SPCC's base camp manager Tshering Tenzing Sherpa.

The team also took part in skiing and climbing training at Gangcho Slysian range of South Korea, said Sherpa. "SPPC and Black Yak team also conducted a cleaning campaign at Surisan Gyeonggi-do park, " he informed. Black Yak always inspired Korean trekkers visiting Nepal to bring back rubbish from the mountains.
SPCC, a local organization established in 1991, has been implementing various waste management activities in the Khumbu region. Icefall doctors handled by SPCC are the individuals responsible for making the route possible at the beginning of the expedition.
