KATHMANDU, MAY 22
A team of climbers from the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee today scaled the world's highest peak, said base camp officials.
According to officials, SPCC's vice chairman Dawa Gyaljen Sherpa, chief executive officer Tshering Sherpa, Icefall Doctors Dawa Jangbu Sherpa and Dawa Nuru Sherpa stood atop the summit of Mt Everest at around 6:00am.
"Today's weather is pretty good and more than 100 climbers are lining up for the summit push," Tshering told base camp officials after reaching the summit point.
The team is now descending towards the lower camps, according to them.
SPCC plays a key role in Everest climbing as its icefall doctors open climbing route up to Camp II from the base camp placing ropes and ladders in the treacherous icefall section every season.
