Speakers of provinces 2, 4, 5 take oath of office and secrecy

Province 2 Speaker Saroj Kumar Yadav took the oath of office and secrecy today at a programme organised at the office of the governor.

Province 2 Governor Ratnesworlal Kayastha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Yadav. Yadav took the oath in Hindi.

Newly-appointed Chief Minister Mohammad Lalbabu Raut Gaddi, High Court Chief Judge Uday Prakash Chapagain, Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal Presidium member Mahantha Thakur and the CDO, among others, were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Yadav was the sole candidate for the post of speaker. The third meet of the Provincial Assembly had declared that Yadav was elected speaker unopposed.

Yadav was elected from Bara Constituency 1 B from Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal. After taking oath, Yadav said he would seek support from all to carry out the work of the PA.

Similarly, CPN-Maoist Centre’s Purna Ghartimagar was elected speaker of Province 5 assembly. The Provincial Assembly meet held today had declared Ghartimagar as speaker who was elected unopposed as he was the sole candidate filing nomination for the post. He was elected to the PA from East Rukum.

Province 5 Governor Umakant Jha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ghartimagar at his office today. Ghartimagar assumed office after swearing in.

Province 5 PA has set the date of February 18 to elect the deputy speaker. In line with the agreement between the left alliance, chief minister and speaker are from the CPN-MC, while the post of deputy speaker will go to the UML.
