Special Security Planning has been implemented in Rautahat from today to prevent possible criminal and untoward activities during the festive season.

Police said that night patrol in all the 18 local levels and the border areas of Rautahat along with East-West Highway has started. SP Kedar Dhakal of District Police Office, Rautahat, said night patrols had started targeting night coaches as many robberies had taken place earlier. SP Dhakal added that with the directive of Province 2 Police Office, the special security was implemented with the aim of ensuring the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhat and festivals were celebrated in a fearless environment.

SP Dhakal said police units of the district have been put on high alert and that police personnel would be present in the markets and fairs, among other places, during the festival. Police have committed to provide safety and security to people by imposing ban on gambling and selling hooch, among others, SP Dhakal informed. He urged locals, civil society, intellectual society and political parties, among others, to help the police. As per the decision of the district security committee, ambulances, fire engines and medical teams have been kept on standby for deployment at any time in case of emergency, said SP Dhakal.
