Special service for pregnant women

Tante Health Post in Kuldevmandau has started serving pregnant women of Bajura.

Heath post in-charge Dipak Shah said telephone service has been launched since the start of the current fiscal in order to notify and encourage pregnant women to visit the health posts for check-up.

The move also aims to encourage women to give birth at health facilities.

As per the new system, local health workers call up pregnant women and remind them to get their foetus checked on a regular basis.

“Ever since the service was launched, the number of women visiting here for their pregnancy check-up has dramatically gone up,” said AHW Bishnu Joshi.

According to data at the health post, though it had set a target of delivering parturition services to 164 women, as many as 172 mothers-in-waiting delivered their babies at the health facility last year.
